Suggested DMC Color Palette
This palette interprets the photographed sample: dark rose-red blooms and soft pink roses across the top, clean white daisies with sunny centers, layered green leaves, muted hanging stems, and small antique-gold decorative drops.
DMC B5200
Snow White
Main daisy petals and crisp petal tips; use clean short lengths so the whites stay bright on linen.
DMC 762
Pearl Gray
Soft shadow at the base of white petals and under petals that tuck behind leaves.
DMC 726
Topaz Light
Daisy centers; French knots or compact seed stitches give the center a raised dotted texture.
DMC 321
Red
Visible outer wraps of the burgundy roses and the brightest crimson petal turns.
DMC 814
Garnet Dark
Rose centers, underside shadows, and the deepest folds where petals overlap.
DMC 225
Shell Pink Ultra Very Light
Pale rose petals and soft highlights on the central blush bloom.
DMC 3727
Antique Mauve Light
Blush rose shadows, small berry-like clusters, and transition stitches between pale pink and deeper folds.
DMC 895
Hunter Green Very Dark
Deep leaf bases, foliage behind red roses, and the strongest contrast along the top floral band.
DMC 936
Avocado Green Very Dark
Main hanging stems and vine lines; smooth, muted, and close to the dark sage tone in the image.
DMC 3012
Khaki Green Medium
Mid-tone leaf veins, dangling sprigs, and small side leaves along the vertical stems.
DMC 3013
Khaki Green Light
Leaf highlights and new growth tips; add sparingly so the design stays calm and sophisticated.
DMC 3829
Old Gold Very Dark
Dotted swag chains, tiny star-like knots, and the warm hanging teardrop accents.
Stitch Map & Texture Suggestions
Top floral band
- Work the main greenery first in fishbone and satin stitch, then layer roses and daisies over the leaf edges.
- Use short split-stitch guide lines where flowers overlap so the bouquet stays readable.
Burgundy roses
- Woven wheel roses work beautifully for the deep red blooms: start with DMC 814 near the center and wrap outward with DMC 321.
- Add a few single-strand 814 straight stitches between wraps to deepen the spiral.
Blush roses
- Use long-and-short stitch or loose woven wheels with DMC 225 on the upper petals and DMC 3727 at the base.
- Keep the center slightly raised with tiny curled straight stitches or a small bullion knot.
Daisies
- Stitch petals with straight stitch, lazy daisy, or padded satin in B5200. Add DMC 762 only where petals meet the flower center.
- Use clustered French knots in DMC 726 for cheerful yellow centers.
Hanging stems
- Use 1 strand of DMC 936 in stem stitch or whipped backstitch for the vertical strands.
- Add small lazy daisy leaves in 3012; use 3013 for only the outermost tiny highlights.
Gold swags and drops
- Work the curved garlands as tiny spaced backstitches or couch a gold-colored thread with DMC 3829.
- For teardrops, use padded satin stitch in 3829 with one highlight stitch in a lighter beige if desired.
Blending & Shading Plan
- Deep rose blend: one strand DMC 321 + one strand DMC 814 creates a dark crimson middle value for rose folds.
- Blush rose blend: one strand DMC 225 + one strand DMC 3727 gives soft mauve-pink shading without making the flower too dark.
- Leaf blend: begin fishbone leaves with DMC 895 at the base, then switch to 936 and finish the upper edges with 3012.
- Gold depth: place 3829 at the lower side of each teardrop and leave a small unstitched glint or pale beige stitch near the top.
Beginner-Friendly Working Order
- Transfer the top flower line, then lightly mark each hanging stem and swag curve with small dots.
- Stitch the main leaves first so the flowers can overlap them naturally.
- Complete white daisies before dark roses to avoid red fibers catching in pale thread.
- Add roses, berry clusters, and French knots after the flatter stitches are finished.
- Stitch the gold swags and dangling drops last so they stay crisp and do not snag.
Practical Finish Notes
Fabric choiceNatural linen or cotton-linen in oatmeal, ivory, or warm gray will support the elegant muted greens and make the white daisies visible.
Needle choiceUse a size 7 embroidery needle for 2-3 strands and a size 9 needle for single-strand hanging lines and gold details.
Hoop tensionKeep tension firm while making long hanging stems. Loose fabric can make the vertical lines look wavy or uneven.
Raised elementsDo not over-pack woven roses. Stop when the bloom is full but still separate from the neighboring daisy petals.
Clean white petalsStitch white flowers with shorter lengths and clean hands. If needed, save the final B5200 highlights until the end.
Final balanceAfter adding gold chains, step back before adding extra knots. The design should feel delicate, not crowded.
Palette is a stitcher-friendly DMC interpretation of the reference image; adjust individual shades slightly warmer or cooler depending on fabric color and lighting.
